It has been almost four months since I last posted an entry in this weblog. Summer is a wonderful time for me as it finds me

outdoors constantly doing yard work and maintenance on my home. The organic garden, as well as the Japanese garden, keep me fully occupied during the daylight hours.
To keep in shape, and starting last December, I began working out at the local YMCA. I have lost 32 pounds and have not been in this excellent physical condition in many years. I made an internal promise that I would take better care of myself mentally and physically, which is especially important in terms of my writing life. This promise was accompanied by another one, starting this author’s site. The first blog entry was made on December 31, 2015.

self–published author, have been exciting, but also exhausting. Even though I am a young 68–year–old man, I was feeling the burn of the many candles I have started going and am still trying to keep alight. While my doctors strongly advised me to start getting into better shape, my conscience also kicked me in the figurative shins to get going on taking better care of myself.
I want to have a bit more time left to me in which I can create stories that have inspired me to share their telling with others. If I can make the “window” writ as large as possible in doing so, getting into the best shape I can allows me more time remaining in my life to fulfill my dream of being an author.
Book wise, June, July and August were anguishing months for me. It seemed that I could gain no traction on getting the first book launched. I had to keep postponing the time I kept resetting to do so.

In the meantime however, the Library of Congress has granted me a Library of Congress Control Number [LCCN] for the eBook version. As I have started my own press, Copper Beech Press, I can apply for this type of bibliographic identification. The LCCN assigned to me by the Library of Congress means that the Penitent – Part I eBook version can be acquired by our national library system.
The number is not the same as a copyright registration; one has already been attained, including a separate ISBN as well. Librarians can employ the LCCN to gain more information about the book’s bibliographic record in the Library of Congress’ database (if the LOC acquires it); or, they can access information about the book in other databases.
I am working on getting a LCCN for the paperback version of the Penitent – Part I as well.
